The gite is located just a few kilometres from the Dordogne (the "Esperance" river) where you can swim and do canoeing.

Your holiday home is mid-way between the medieval town of Sarlat and the religious site of Rocamadour. There are numerous caves to visit nearby (the Padirac Chasm with its underground river, the Lacave caves with their tourist train, the Cougnac caves decorated with magnificent wall paintings dating from the Paleolithic era) and castles (enemy fortresses to discover : Beynac and Castelnaud - at the time of the Hundred Years' War, Beynac was in French hands and not far away, on the opposite bank of the river, the Château de Castelnaud was held by the English! There is also the Fenelon Castle in Sainte-Mondane, the nearest to visit.)..

During your walks, you’ll also discover vestiges of the past activities of the local countryside : dry-stone walling, fountains, mills, "cazelles"...

There are many paths and trails for walks and hikes in the region - and one of them starts just outside the gite.

The Lot is also a natural reserve for the many species of birds, butterflies and rare plants that will delight you all along your visits.

Having worked up an appetite with all these visits, it’s now time to enjoy the Quercy region’s gastronomy:
"Foie Gras", Duck Filets, Quercy Lamb, Truffles, Cepe Mushrooms, Perigord Walnuts, cheese from Rocamadour – all these typical regional products can be accompanied with an excellent Cahors wine.

There are also many festivals, village parties and markets to entertain you.

And if you prefer, you can take advantage of your holidays to simply relax – the terrace, garden and swimming pool are there to bring you the peace and quiet you’re looking for.

Please don’t hesitate to ask our advice. We’ll be happy to give you information about visits, walks and gastronomy to discover during your stay.
